It's about time...

... for another post. I've been remiss.

My parents are coming into town tomorrow. I'm looking forward to it, and sort of dreading it as well. I mean, I love my parents. But they drive me nuts. But I've missed them while they have been away in Australia. It's been odd, almost like a little taste of what the future might be. I mean, at some point my parents will die, and the rest of my life will be like the past 6 months have been, except with no end. No phone calls, letters, contact, emails, etc. I really can't imagine that.

Today we went mini-van shopping. I didn't really expect to find what I was looking for, but did. Our plan was to go to Budget Car Sales - where Budget car rental sells off their rental cars. We'd been told that they had good selection & prices so thought we'd give it a look-see. Our friend Robyn came too b/c she is also car shopping. There was a Honda Odyseey that was okay, but I wasn't crazy about it. We decided to go to the AutoMall to see what they had before making a decision on the Honda. We stopped at the Toyota dealership b/c what I really like is the Toyota Sienna. They had a 2004 Sienna LE (not base model but not top of the line model - in between) with 60Kms on it, after-market leather seats in perfect condition, spotless exterior (I couldn't see any damage to it, but I'd have to look closer). The problem with it: sticker price of $32,336. Just a little bit out of my price range.

I test drove it and loved it. The only other car I've felt like that about is my Vibe and I tell you, I LOVE MY VIBE! I hate having to sell it. But realistically, can't fit 2 infant seats, double stroller, wheelchair & dog into it - so sell it I must. And realistically, we have to buy a mini-van. And again, realistically, minivans aren't going to sell for much less than $25K, to get the features that we want, and if you're spending that kind of dough, you might as well get the features that you want. So, we talked to the dealer about the van. Said we needed to bring it down in price to about $28K. He didn't say no, but he didn't say yes either. We played around with nubmers and he was using $30K "hypothetically." I think we could do $30k.

To make a short story long - which is what I've done here - I put a deposit on it to hold it until Monday night at 9PM. $500 refundable deposit - might as well right? I'll run the idea by the parental units and they can tell me what they think. Plus I have to dig out my paperwork on my Vibe loan to find out what is still owing on it, previous accidents, etc. So, as of Monday night, I might own a mini-van. (Red! Or burgundy actually! Robyn pointed out that they are Alpha Phi colours... not an important feature for me, but it is for her.)

Okay, enough. I gotta go to sleep. It was a really long day and I'm exhuasted. Ken's already in bed but I'm trying to avoid my 3AM wake up and inability to go back to sleep. That is a story for another night.
