Stormy day
I love stormy weather. The windier the better, I figure. Today is a very windy day. It has caused havoc in British Columbia with trees down, power out, and cedar branches all over every road from Victoria to Hope. And I love it! It reminds me of spending fall weekends at the cottage as a young teen. All the summer people would be gone and we would be the only people still making the trek out to the cottage. There would be a roaring fire going in the living room, and we would pass our day reading Reader's Digest condensed books and playing cards. And then I would love going for walks along the shoreline, peeking in the windows of the other summer people's cottages, peeking into their lives and learning how "other people" lived! But I remember standing on the rocks on the shore at the point, with my arms outstretched, and the wind blowing into me. I loved it.
This summer, my dad & I had a good heart to heart talk on our dock during a big wind storm. I discovered that my love of wind is bred into me. He also loves the wind. But being a sailor, I could fully expect that. What was funny - not so much at the time - was my mother's reaction to the wind & lightening storm going on around us... she was terrified that we were out on the dock (the lightening was clear over in Shawville - no where near where we were and we were keeping an eye on that!) She was terrified to the point of hysteria. But I suppose that is a brain injury for you.
Anyway - I love the wind. So today was a good day.
I bought my first baby stuff today. Nothing exciting - just 2 baby medical kits with thermometers, aspirators, etc. - I read somewhere that you should have separate 'tools' for each baby so I saw these kits that were in little zippered pouches which I thought was good. I can then put their names on the kits and keep it separate. Anyway, Ken thought it was silly and that "he'd never heard of anyone needing that." Am i being silly?
And Jelly - you made me cry.

Crying is a state of affairs when you are prego! I made myself cry when I wrote it! So I guess were are even!
Now, pout pout, about the thermo stuff, that is my "traditional" baby gift! The Sick kid kit. Oh well. I guess being the new aunty I need to give better stuff than that! LOL!
